Chapter 1- An Unexpected Party It was a fine day. Bilbo was outside smoking his pipe. Then Gandalf came along. Gandalf was a very powerful wizard and wherever he went adventures would pop up. Gandalf talked to Bilbo about adventures. Bilbo, as a hobbit, wanted nothing to do with adventures and made Gandalf go away. Before Gandalf left, he made a marking on Bilbo's door. This mark was invisible to Bilbo. The very next day an unexpected party of dwarves came to Bilbo's house. Their names were Fili, Kili, Bifur, Bombur, Bofur, Dwalin, Balin, Dori, Ori, Nori, Oin, Gloin, and Thorin. The dwarves started relaxing and eating in Bilbo's house while Bilbo was working his tail off serving his guests. When all the dwarves were done eating, they sang a song about how they lost their treasure. At the very end of the song they, the dwarves speaked of how Bilbo would be the burgalar in stealing the treasure they lost from the dragon,Smaug. Since most hobbits are conservative, Bilbo wanted nothing to do with the adventure. Then something Tookish woke up inside him. The took side of Bilbo's family liked adventures. Bilbo wanted to go on and adventure and see all kinds of wonderful things. The very next day, the dwarves leave and Bilbo is dissapointed. |
